St. John the Baptist Hellenic Orthodox Church is located in Boston's South End at 15 Union Park St between Washington St and Shawmut Ave.

From Back Bay/Copley Square/Mass Pike, take Clarendon St, or Arlington St, to Tremont St (less than 1 mile). Take a right on Tremont St and then a left at W Dedham St (a continuation of Dartmouth St). Turn left at the light on Washington St. At the first light, take a left on Union Park St (big white marble bank on corner, Boston Chops). We are 1/2 block ahead on your left.

From Massachusetts Ave, turn at the light onto Washington St. Go northeast on Washington St about 1/2 mile. At the 4th light, take a left on Union Park St (big white marble bank on corner, Boston Chops). We are 1/2 block ahead on your left.

From 93 South, take exit 20 (I-90W/Mass Pike). Bear left and follow signs for Albany St (be careful to stay in the right lane; do not get back up on 93 South). Then take the Albany St exit (to the left of the Mass Pike exit). Continue on Albany St about two blocks to the intersection at E Berkeley St (a Mobil station will be diagonally across the intersection). Turn right onto E Berkeley St, drive two blocks and turn left onto Washington St. At the next light, take a right on Union Park St (big white marble bank on corner, Boston Chops). We are located about 1/2 block on your left.

From 93 North, take exit 18 (Mass Ave/Roxbury). Follow the road left (less than 1/2 mile), then turn right onto Massachusetts Ave. Continue for three blocks (you'll pass the Boston Medical Center), turning right at the light onto Washington St. At the 4th light (about 1/2 mile down Washington St), take a left on Union Park St (big white marble bank on corner, Boston Chops). We are 1/2 block ahead on your left.


1) Try the Silver Line

Take the new Silver line (a new Bus Rapid Transit service that runs between Temple Place at Downtown Crossing and Dudley Station in Roxbury)
and get off at "Union Park Street" stop. The Church is 15 Union Park Street just seconds from the stop.

Red Line:
Get off at Downtown Crossing at the corner of Summer St. and Washington St. Take Washington St. towards Chinatown (along Macy’s store) for one block. On Temple Place turn right. The bus stop is on your right (almost at the corner of Temple Pl. and Tremont St.).
Green Line:
Get off at Boylston Station. The Silver line bus stop is on Tremont street, right across "Lowe's Theaters"
Orange Line:
Get off at New England Medical Center.
The Silver line bus stop is in from of the main entrance to the New England Medical Center
(Make sure you get a transfer ticket so you do not pay for the Silver line)

2) If you do not like bus rides and prefer a short walk in historic South End.

Get off at Copley Square on the Green Line or Back Bay Station on the Orange Line.
The Church is a 10min walk in beautiful South End.
Take Dartmouth Street towards Tremont Street (not towards Newbury street or Charles River). On Tremont street turn left.
On the second traffic lights Union Park street is on your right hand you. Turn right on Union Park street and cross Swamut Ave.
The Church is on your right hand side. (Washington Street is on the next crossing).

Please see the Parking Map for information about parking lots and street parking. Please note that the free parking lots are available on evenings and weekends only!

There are free 2-hour visitor spaces on Union Park St and a few on Shawmut Ave; there are metered parking spaces on Washington Street. From March 1 through December 31, be careful to watch for signs indicating street cleaning days.

We are a 10-minute walk from Back Bay MBTA station. Take the Orange Line to Back Bay Station. Walk south on Dartmouth St and cross Columbus Ave. Take a left on Tremont St and walk a couple of short blocks and take a right on Union Park. Walk through the historic neighborhood; we are 1-1/2 blocks ahead on your right.

Another option, take the Silver Line to the "Union Park Street" stop. Walk towards the cathedral on Washington St. Turn on Union Park St heading downtown (big white marble bank on corner, Boston Chops). We are 1/2 block ahead on your left.
